MUSIC INSTRUMENTS FROM PLASTIC WASTE

Water Creatures is about making music with plastic waste. The performance demonstrates that
the plastic is not only used for upcycling nice things, but that you can experience something with it, tell a story with it, make music with it! The compositions are written for a percussion ensemble and tell us the cycle of a life; with compositions through birth, death, heaven and hell. The instruments that are played on and the costumes that our performers wear are all up cycled out of plastic waste.

COSTUMES FROM PLASTIC BAGS

water-creatures-kostuum-01v2
The costumes are all upcycled from plastic bags. If you look closely you will recognize the plastic bags of well known supermarkets. Through these costumes the performers look like hybrid creatures that rose up and out of the plastic soup. They are entangled with the plastic that floats in the oceans, however the plastic is elegantly woven into their costumes. With this the negative cycle of pollution is shown, as well as the positive cycle of upcycling! The vessel that the performers are floating on resembles the plastic soup itself.
